Charlotte Ranks High For Relocating Singles Charlotte Business Journal Staff Report Monday, October 03, 2005
Charlotte is one of the nation's best cities for singles who are relocating, according to an annual study by two national relocation organizations. The Queen City ranks No. 4 on the annual list compiled by Worldwide ERC and Primacy Relocation. The list is led by Austin-San Marcos, Texas, followed in order by Nashville, Tenn., and New York. Charlotte did not make the 10-city list last year. The organizations choose cities for the list based on singles' preferences on a range of criteria, including gender balance among a city's residents, a climate analysis and occupancy rates for temporary housing. The ranking also considers the availability of collegiate and professional sporting events.
"The appeal of a city is different depending on an individual's point of view," says Michelle Vallejo, Primacy Relocation's chief operating officer. "This study provides employee relocation professionals with another tool to help facilitate happy and successful moves for their transferees."
Washington, D.C.-based Worldwide ERC is a membership association of more than 10,000 corporate and government relocation managers, real estate companies, appraisers, service firms and individuals from industries that address relocation-related work-force issues. Primacy Relocation is a Memphis, Tenn.-based provider of employee-relocation services.
